History[edit]

1920s[edit]

SR 35 was established at least as early as 1919, from the Florida state line south-southeat of Quitman, north-northwest to SR 33 in Moultrie, and then northeast to Tifton. At this time, SR 3 was established from the Florida state line southwest of Thomasville, northeast to that city. SR 33 was established from Thomasville north-northeast to Moultrie, and then north-northwest to Sylvester. An unnumbered road was established from Tifton to Ocilla. SR 11 was established from Ocilla north-northwest to Fitzgerald.[1] By the end of September 1921, the northern terminus of SR 35 was truncated to SR 33 in Pavo. The northern terminus of SR 33 was proposed to be extended north-northeast to SR 7 south of Cordele. SR 37 was extended northeast from SR 33 in Moultrie to SR 50 west-southwest of Tifton. SR 15 was shifted westward, to travel east-northeast on SR 26, from Dublin to North Dublin, and then solely north-northeast to Wrightsville.[1][2] By October 1926, the path of SR 35, from Florida to Moultrie, was shifted westward to travel north-northeast from Thomasville to Moultrie. The path of SR 33, from Thomasville to Moultrie, was shifted eastward to travel north-northwest from the Florida state line (south-southeast of Quitman) to Moultrie. It was also extended to US 41/SR 7 south of Cordele. US 41 was designated on SR 7 in the Cordele area.[2][3] By October 1929, US 19 was designated on SR 3 from the Florida state line northeast to Thomasville. The northern terminus of SR 35 was extended north-northwest to Sylvester, splitting SR 33 into two segments.[3][4]
