The Bookman (US) online

For the years 1895-1912, The Bookman (New York) is the best source on best-selling fiction books in the United States. (It continued to be a primary sources for such information through 1918, when it stopped publishing a list. Publishers Weekly start publishing lists in 1912.) The overall "six best sellers" list, which began being compiled in 1897 using top six lists from cities around the United States (and a few in Canada), became every publisher's goal. (See, e.g., [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8])

(This source says Alice Payne Hackett's lists use The Bookman for 1895-12.)
