"Makafushigi Adventure!" (魔訶不思議アドベンチャー!, Makafushigi Adobenchā!, Mystical Adventure!) is the opening theme song of the Dragon Ball anime series and is the ??th single by pop artist Hiroki Takahashi. Originally released on vinyl on March 1, 1986, it was re-released on 8 cm cd on March 21, 1998. It is coupled with the Dragon Ball closing theme "Romantic Ageru Yo" performed by Ushio Hashimoto.

When Funimation Entertainment dubbed Dragon Ball into English, they also recorded its opening and closing themes sung in English as well. "Mystical Adventure!" was sung by Jimi Tunnell, though the lyrics were not a literal translation of the original Japanese.

In 2005 Takahashi was called back to record a new version of Makafushigi Adventure! called "Makafushigi Adventure! (2005 Ver.)". This release is coupled with re-recordings of "Mezase Tenka-ichi", "Dragonball Densetsu", and "Aoi Tabibito-tachi". A self-cover version, featuring Takahashi on the cover, was also released on the same day. It is the only Hiroki Takahashi release to be made available domestically through iTunes.[1]

Legacy[edit]

In 1998, the group Animetal would record a heavy metal cover of "Makafushigi Adventure!" for their album This is Japanimetal Marathon.[2] The Animetal tribute band Animetal USA covered the song in English on their 2011 self-titled debut album.

Blue Velvet[edit]

Blue Velvet is the third closing theme song of the anime series Dragon Ball GT and is the 29th single by Japanese pop singer Shizuka Kudō. It was released on 8 cm CD on May 28, 1997 in Japan only. It is coupled with the song "Break". The song is used for episodes 42-50 of the series. The single would chart at 8 on Oricon.[3]

Hitori Janai[edit]

"Hitori Janai" (ひとりじゃない, I'm Not Alone) is the first closing theme song of the anime series Dragon Ball GT and the ninth single by the Japanese band Deen. It was released on mini disc on April 1, 1996, in Japan only and peaked at number 3 on the Oricon chart.[4] It is coupled with the song "Sunday". The song was used for the first 26 episodes of the series.

"Sabitsuita Machine Gun de Ima o Uchinukō" (錆ついたマシンガンで今を撃ち抜こう, Sabitsuita Mashin Gan de Ima o Uchinukō, Let’s Blast Through This Moment with a Rusted Machine Gun) is the fourth and final closing theme song of the anime series Dragon Ball GT and is the 12th single by Japanese rock band Wands. It was released on 8 cm cd on September 3, 1997 in Japan only. It is coupled with the first song "Try Again". The song is used for episodes 51-64 of the series. The song was written by Miho Komatsu who would go on release a cover of the song on her album Nazo.[5]

To date this is the only known soundtrack to be released during the series' lifespan. The album would be reissued through Columbia's ANIMEX 1200 Series September 25, 2003 as its 15th. release.

Dragon Ball: Original USA TV Soundtrack Recording is the official domestic US soundtrack from the anime Dragon Ball released in 1995. The score was written and composed by then series composer Peter Berring. It also includes the theme song known by fans as "Get That Dragon Ball!" which was written by Brian Griffith. As of 2007, this is the only domestic US soundtrack of the show to be produced for the consumer.

Dragon Ball: Saikyō e no Michi Original Soundtrack (ドラゴンボール最強への道オリジナルサウンドトラック, Doragon Bōru Saikyō e no Michi Orijinaru Saundotorakku, Dragon Ball: Road of The Mightiest) is the official licensed soundtrack of 10th anniversary Dragon Ball movie by the same name (The Path to Power in Funimation dub.). It was released by Columbia Records on March 23, 1996 in Japan only. This album contains a track from the film that also played in Dragon Ball GT due to that the shows composer Akira Tokunaga worked on the film as well. As a result this album is sought after by many fans of the GT series. The album also includes a cinematic version of the GT opening theme song "Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku" by the band Field of View.

Koro-chan Pack Dragon Ball Best (コロちゃんパック ドラゴンボール ベスト, Koro chan Pakku Doragon Bōru Besuto) is a collection of songs from the anime Dragon Ball. It was released by Columbia Records on September 19, 2007 in Japan only.

Album information[edit]

The album is essentially a part of an ongoing series of albums called the Koro-chan Pack. The album includes the series opening and closing theme songs, three character songs, and the closing theme to the film "Makafushigi Dai-Bōken" (Known outside Japan as Mystical Adventure). Aside from Amazon.com, the album has made appearances on domestic retailer like Target's online store under the name Colo-chan Pack Dragon Ball Best.

Dragon'98 Special Live is an album of a live concert featuring a few of the solo artist who contributed song for the anime Dragon Ball Z which was held at Shibuya back in 1998. It was released by Pony Canyon on December 18, 1998 in Japan only. The album was re-released by Sony Music Entertainment on September 9, 2008. All the artist are collected as Monolith on the album's credits.
