Current requests for reduction in protection level[edit]

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Rebecca Black[edit]

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because recent revision history does not show excessive disruptive editing within the last few months. 70.50.199.125 (talk) 04:52, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Ping Gfoley4 as the admin who protected in 2011. I assume unprotection would be ok. Johnuniq (talk) 05:04, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
Comment: Are you sure the lack of disruption isn't because of the protection? - Sumanuil. (talk to me)
Also, the abuse filter log shows a lot of disruptive activity for 10 years after the protection was applied, although nothing since 2021. There is absolutely nothing preventing the IP from making an edit request. ~Anachronist (talk) 23:15, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
If there hasn't been disruption since 2021, then maybe you or Gfoley, should at least consider unprotecting it. No? 70.50.199.125 (talk) 03:46, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
I still don't see why it would need to be unprotected when you can make an edit request on the talk page. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 06:09, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. Protecting admin only editing rarely. OP: please use an edit request at need. Lectonar (talk) 07:03, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page[edit]

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Autopatrolled[edit]

User:Princess of Ara[edit]

I recently noticed this user, Princess of Ara. An editor who works mainly on Nigerian related articles and others. While trying to appreciate the user's effort, I got in love with the lovely articles, well sources, written from a volunteer in good faith and now, I am requesting that she be granted the auto patrol user right. It'll also help reduce heavy backlog of NPP. Thanks for your consideration! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:05, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

User:Prince of Erebor[edit]

I have created 77 articles, primarily focused on Sinophone cinema and fantasy literature, with 2 currently undergoing GAN. All of my articles have been promptly reviewed, and none of them have been deleted or marked for maintenance. I am requesting autopatrolled rights to alleviate the workload of the patrollers, especially those who actively review film articles and have reviewed the majority of my articles, allowing them to allocate more time to address articles that truly require attention. As a side note, I am a veteran editor with patroller rights on Chinese Wikipedia, having authored over 200 articles, including a dozen featured and good articles. While I fully understand that there are differences in policies and MOS across different Wikipedias, I believe this demonstrates my credibility and knowledge in assessing article quality.— Prince of EreborThe Book of Mazarbul 13:18, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

User:SheriffIsInTown[edit]

I frequently create articles on notable subjects, having authored 530 articles, with the majority facing no issues. Only three were deleted, mainly due to changes in election results affecting their notability. I'm requesting autopatroller rights to ease the burden on other editors reviewing my articles and help reduce the backlog of new article reviews. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 23:36, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

User:Xoak[edit]

Hey, @Schwede66: I've done everything you have suggested me do here, and followed the edit summary instructions you've given such as default sorting my previous articles, fixing PP and P in citations, using SFN template and using Book or Journal templates in Bibliography, etc. I've also created half a dozen new articles as per your suggestion, and I believe they are unproblematic. Regards. X (talk) 05:17, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

Page mover[edit]

User:Soni[edit]

I started working at the WP:CR backlog recently and realised I need the pagemover permission to close some RM discussions. So far I requested CSD to effectively move the page, but I will probably close more discussions in the future. Soni (talk) 10:12, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Not done for now, while you have started working in this area, we prefer someone has a solid track record before applying. I'm not seeing any major issues from what I'm seeing, just not yet a large need. Primefac (talk) 12:37, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
Understood, thank you. Soni (talk) 12:52, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

User:ToadetteEdit[edit]

Reason for requesting page mover rights: multiple reasons including to swap pages (as a result of RM discussions) and suppress redirects, especially R2 eligible. I understood that I won't abuse this privileged right and read the instructions. ToadetteEdit! 15:41, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Not done You've only had an account for about a week and you have no track record with dealing with antivandalism, which is what this user right is usually intended for. I think you need some more time to learn about antivandalism and participate more in the mainspace so that we can get a track record of your understanding of our policies and guidelines (such as what vandalism is or is not) before you can be granted this user right. User:Imsaneikigai[edit]

I have been editing for around 2.5 years now, with specialised focus on field of entertainment. I also often correct typos or do general fixes on articles of various subjects. I have a good knowledge of wikipedia policies and would like to get this pending changes reviewer rights to broaden by experience and get more expertise of Wikipedia. I have read all the articles and tips for reviewing pending edits. I also have a large, significant history of editing many Engkish and Korean articles about Academics, Music theory, etc. AnAlpineSymphony (talk) 05:17, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

User:BerryForPerpetuity[edit]

Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights: I commonly do anti-vandalism work with recent changes patrolling, and I have familiarized myself with the criteria. BerryForPerpetuity (talk) 13:06, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

User:AlphaBetaGamma[edit]

I've done reverting vandalism (Although I was on a hiatus since Golden Week as the vandal level hit 5) for some months now, with my edits growing over 2000 from 89ish including other works, and I request this permission to help with the works. I understand that I did make a misunderstandment couple of weeks ago and I have revised the guidelines to prevent another instance of that happening. (I've been making sure not to miss placing a uw as well). Not planning to request rollbacker until I stop making accidents. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 01:34, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Rollback[edit]

User:Editmakerer[edit]

Would streamline the editing process for reversion when combatting vandalism or unnecessary additions on a handful of articles, as it is currently a pain on mobile (my main platform) Editmakerer (talk) 19:22, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Not done I reviewed your contributions and found little to no recent anti-vandalism work. If you're still interested in this tool then please spend at least a month actively patrolling RecentChanges (Twinkle & Ultraviolet can help with that) before reapplying. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits. Thanks, Fastily 00:22, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

User:Piscili[edit]

Have been patrolling Recent Changes and fighting vandalism for some time now and I think that having one or more advanced anti vandalism tools would help a lot in this trajectory. Piscili (talk) 12:12, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

Automated comment This user has 149 edits in the mainspace. MusikBot talk 19:00, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
Not done Please see the notice at the top of this page; with only 149 edits to the mainspace, I don't think you have the necessary editing experience for advanced permissions. Take a moment to check out CVUA, and if you decide you'd like to get involved, you can enroll at the Counter Vandalism Academy to learn more. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits (I recommend using tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet which makes this extremely easy). Thanks, Fastily 23:40, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for the comment. But my edit counts in the mainspace already exceeded the 200 minimum edits to mainspace at the time you reviewed this request but the bot failed to update it accordingly. I have consistently warned editors when reverting edits but sometimes the warning template fails to load which I assume is due to my weak internet connection. And I have learnt to do manual warning when this happens. I request that you kindly take a moment and review my counter vandalism edits again. Thanks. Piscili (talk) 05:46, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
Sure, although I stand by my original decline. You've been actively editing for ~1 month, which IMO isn't enough time to adequately learn Wikipedia's many policies/guidelines/best practices. You need to ensure that you're notifying editors when you revert their edits. If you're on an unstable internet connection, then you need to slow down and take extra care to ensure that you are notifying editors; RecentChanges patrol isn't a race to see who can revert the most edits. Furthermore, I note that you've made exactly zero reports to AIV, which is an important stop for any serious counter-vandalism patroller. Please carefully review my feedback, implement it, and consider reapplying in a month if you are still interested. -Fastily 07:13, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
Noted. Many thanks Piscili (talk) 07:46, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
