WarGames[edit]
The set for the Norad Command Center where much of the story takes place was a significant portion of the film's budget. It consisted of 12 large film projection screens and 85 smaller video monitors. During filming, the projectors and monitors had to be set to play in sync for each shot. The animations that played in these screens were generated by a HP____, with each frame being sent to a high resolution vector plotter before being converted to film.
The Command Center in the film is much larger than the actual NORAD command center.

skydiver[edit]
The Skydiver is a carnival ride produced from 1965 to 1979 by Chance Rides Manufacturing, Inc., a American manufacturer of amusement rides based in Wichita, Kansas. Skydiver cars are mounted on a circular frame (like a Ferris wheel), and spin on a front-back axis like a barrel roll.[3] As the ride required two trailers to transport, it was less popular than the similar, but smaller Chance ride, The Zipper.

On December 7, 1993 Colin Ferguson boarded a Long Island commuter train and began shooting the passengers with a Ruger P-89 9mm pistol. The incident known as the Long Island Railroad Massacre resulted in six people being killed and 19 injured.
Crime Events: According to trial testimony, Ferguson suffered from extreme paranoia involving many races but it was mostly centered around the feeling that white people were out to get him. At some point his paranoia pushed him into devising a plan of revenge. In order to avoid embarrassing New York City mayor David Dinkins, Ferguson selected a commuter train headed to Nassau County. Once the train entered Nassau, Ferguson began shooting, selecting specific white people to gun down and sparing others. The reasons for his selection of who to shoot and who not was never made clear. As he stopped to reload his gun for the third time he was overpowered by three passengers and held down until the police arrived.
After a bizarre trial in which Ferguson represented himself, he was found guilty and sentenced to 200 years in prison. about.com

Tseng Kwong Chi (1950-1990) was a photographer working in New York City during the 1980s, displaying his own work and capturing some of the eras most notable artists, including Keith Harring, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat.
