User:Kew Gardens 613/List of new New York City Subway entrances

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of New York City Subway entrances that have been added after station openings. Additional information would be appreciated, including additional locations where entrances were added afterwards (many were done in conjunction with IRT platform extensions), dates when they opened, and if possible, why they were built. Proper citations would be appreciated, whether they are newspaper articles detailing their opening, NYCTA documentation, or images showing their existence.

History[edit]

Contract 3 allowed for the addition of elevators or escalators to stations where the distance from platform to street is over 30 feet. Due to inflation caused by World War I, there was a tendency not to put in an escalator unless the distance was well in excess of 30 feet or if traffic was very high.[1]
