Bands article mark up and related issues

Each band article should have the following mark-up (unless WP:IGNORE is applicable)

 • A) disambiguation links using templates like otheruses, if applicable. As per WP:ACCESS
 • B) a band infobox containing the following sections, if applicable:
Name Write the name the way it is most commonly written, including unorthodox use of capitals/characters. If there is any doubt about the most common way to write it, stick to WP:MUSTARD. Do not use wikilinks or any mark-up like bold or italic text. A logo is acceptable only when a band has a single widely used logo. Bands that have used several logos throughout their career don't need a logo as there isn't a single logo associated with the band. Logos should not be wider than 250 pixels maudlin of the Well, diSEMBOWELMENT,
Image Use fair use images only. Pay attention to the landscape tag, for landscape=yes should be used for landscape images. If information is available, a short summary (one or two rows of text) should be provided as capture. For landscape images image size should be set to maximum 250.
Background Background is always group_or_band.
Alias Use alias for bands that where known by another name earlier in their career or for bands that used multiple names throughout their career. Do not use it for closely related but different bands
Origin Use the origin of the first incarnation of the band. As a band has only one origin, use one origin. Be as specific as possible. Use wikilinks. Note that the state should be linked separately. Flag use is not prohibited per WP:FLAG but be careful using flags as use is not accepted by many wikipedians. Town, State, State, Country for USA and Canada.
Otherwise Town, Country
Genre If a band is a clear case of genre X, be as specific as possible, as long as the genre has its own article (or is at least redirected to its own section within an article). If a specific genre is disputed go for a more general genre. If a genre is subject to edit wars, try to be general complimented with a wikilink to a well sourced genre section in the article body. When more than one genre is used, divide them with line breaks (<br />). Although less preferable for readability purposes, commas may be used as separator when the genres fit on one row. Certainly avoid genres spanning two lines. Capitalize genres as per WP:MUSTARD. Technical death metal<br />Brutal death metal
Funk, soul, R&B
Heavy metal (see below)
Years active Use full years, or 'present' if applicable. Separate several periods by line breaks or less preferable by commas. Periods should feature an EN-dash and years should not be wikilinked as per WP:DATE 1982–2003<br />2004–present; 2001–2002, 2003–2007
Labels Omit the 'Records' or 'Recordings' part if applicable. Separate several labels by line breaks or less preferable by commas. Years may be attributed to labels, unless it neatness is not guaranteed. Only use wikilinks for labels that have their own article Roadrunner<br />Earache; Brother, American
Associated acts All acts associated to the band, including other bands a band member has played in, side projects, etc. may be listed in this section. Always separate several associated acts by line breaks. Only use wikilinks for acts that have their own article. Roadrunner<br />Earache
Brother, American
URL For short URLs use the wikicode to display the URL without http:// (but including www. if applicable). For long URLs that are wider than the infobox, use a description, preferable 'Official website'. www.xyz.com
Official webpage
Current members/Past members Include all the names of the current and past members separated by line breaks. The addition of their instruments is only acceptable if neatness is guaranteed, and should be separated by a single dash (-). Don't add any other information like 'deceased'. Only use wikilinks for members that have their own article, don't use wikilinks for instruments.
 • C) Prose intro. The first sentence(s) should at least feature the band name in bold, year of formation, genre and band origin. Also a notability claim should be made in this section. Also band name origin can be mentioned here. Sources should be provided.
 • D) Full chronologically ordered band biography including recordings, touring information, etc should be placed here. It may be followed by additional sections important to the band like genre/style sections. Sources should be provided.
 • E) Band discography should be shown as a bulleted list, not as a table, with its applicable sub-section like ===Studio albums===, ===EPs===, ===Demos===, etc. If the list of non-studio albums is relativity long, a link to a separate discography article is preferable (see example).
Example:

Code
Discography
