Area 4, about arts and humanities involves all of the profesions dedicated to safeguard, understand and systematize all the cultural stock in all its diferent manifestations and times. One of its principal characteristics is the production of all kind of artistic expresions and manifestaions (music, theatre, dance, painting, sculpture, etc.). Likewise, it also studies the teaching-learning process, it means, it includes careers for the teaching training, in many areas of knowledge and foreign languages.

Characteristics of the area

This area has as an objetive to enrich and ennoble the daily like and the enviroment, as well as apreciate the human developing in the historical development. It studies the diferent thinking systems created for answer the human doubts about its existence, trascendence and the world that around them; as well as the literary works of the diferent times of the art history.

The art is usually understood as any activity or product made from the human, with a esthetic or communicative purpose, trough wich express ideas, emotions or, in general, a world vision; all that trough plastic, linguistic, sound or visual resources. The art is a culture component, reflecting in its conception the economic and social substrates, and the transmission of ideas and values, inherent in any human society and culture, throughout space and time.

It is for the foregoing that area 4 of knowledge is perhaps the most underestimated and punished in a globalized world. Sometimes, it is difficult to see the profitable end to the products originated by the careers in this area, however, the careers that make up require as much interest and dedication as any other career in the other areas.

Student profile

The aspirants to study arts and humanities careers must have specific characteristics, aptitudes and abilities, within wich are:

• Creative capacity and problem solving • Hand skill ability • Estethic apreciation capacity • Facility for imagine forms, colors and volumes • Fine and fine motor skills • Great perceptual skills • Sensibility for artistic and cultural manifestations • Disposition and taste for research • Abstract thinking and spatial relationships • Good use of language and spelling (interest in the area of letters) • Linguistic ability: they think and express themselves, more frequently, through oral or written word. • They have body and kinesthetic intelligence: they think through the sensations of the body. • Development of intrapersonal intelligence: they know themselves and know what they want, use that knowledge and work to achieve their ideals.

Aspirants to study an area 4 career, likes to develop in a freedom enviroment and express oneself through plastic, musical, corporal art (or an all of them combination). They like to paint, draw, design, write stories, poems, play musical instruments, sing, act, dance, entertain people, etc. They also like teach, listen and express oneself with other people; cooperate with others, help people in their troubles and make voluntary work, always with an ideal. They really like to read and express oneself verbally or in writting. They have an especial taste for the ejecution, study or composition of music.

Music is one of the topics you could study if you are interested in Area 4.

In general, they like to teach, listen and express oneself with other people, they like to help. They are able to observe, listen and put attention, and form an idea of the things. They are sensitive to people, emotions, animals and nature. They are creators because they like activities that require artistic talent in its diferent manifestations.
