Jean-Pierre Foucault (French pronunciation: [ʒɑ̃ pjɛʁ fuko]; born 23 November 1947) is a French television and radio host. Foucault is best known for hosting a variety of French television programs on TF1, including Intervilles (1995–1999), Qui veut gagner des millions ? (2000–2016; 2019), and Miss France (1995–present).
In addition to his career on television, Foucault is a radio personality who has hosted programs on radio stations such as RMC, Europe 1, and RTL.
Personal life[edit]
Foucault was born on 23 November 1947 in Marseille to parents Marcel (1910–1962) and Paula Foucault (1916–2008).[1] His father was murdered by an unknown assailant in Algiers in 1962, when Foucault was a teenager.[1] His mother was a Polish Jew of Ashkenazi Jewish origin, born Pesa Łeba Leska in Mogielnica, who survived World War II and immigrated to France.[1] Marcel had received the Righteous Among the Nations honor for saving his wife's nephews from Poland during World War II.[2] Foucault was educated at Lycée Marseilleveyre in Marseille.[1]
Foucault has been in a relationship with flight attendant Évelyne Jarre since 1983, after meeting on a flight, although they never married and have no children together.[3] He has one daughter from a prior relationship.[4] Foucault resides in the town of Carry-le-Rouet in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, near Marseille.[3]

Foucault began his career in 1966, after joining the RMC radio station as a presenter; he was discovered through a contest organized by the station in order to find a new presenter, after having been signed up for the contest by a childhood friend. The same contest also discovered comedian and singer Patrick Topaloff, whom Foucault initially worked with at RMC. Foucault was let go by RMC after six months, and afterwards joined Europe 1. Foucault returned to RMC in 1969, where he remained a presenter until 1989. He afterwards hosted a morning show on RTL from 1989 until 1994, before returning to RMC as a program director. He was let go from RMC again in 1998, following the privatization of the station.[5]
In 1998, Foucault hosted the program Cette année-là on M Radio, a radio of which he was also a shareholder.[6] He later rejoined RTL in 2001, to relaunch the program Quitte ou double following the departure of Philippe Bouvard.[7] In 2007, he began hosting the program La bonne touche on RTL with Cyril Hanouna, and continued presenting the show following Hanouna's departure in 2011.[8][9] He later left RTL in 2014.[10] From 2014 to 2016, he cohosted the radio show Les pieds dans le plat on Europe 1 with Hanouna.[11]
