Welcome[edit]

Mission statement[edit]

Hi! I’m Jarrod (pronounced like ‘Jared’), I’m a Zoomer, and I’m a strong believer in the mantra that information wants to be free, and that a reputable, neutral, nonprofit has immense potential to embody it. (After all, just look what it did during the COVID pandemic.) Now, I don’t know if it’s “the last best place on the internet”, but it’s an important, and easy-to-use, outlet for the people who wish to make a seemingly light and obscure, but nevertheless meaningful impact on the World Brain that is the internet, while at the same time committing themselves to truth above all. I’m certainly one of them.

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.
Pericles

I know that Wikipedia is not a democracy, but nevertheless its ethos is soundly rooted in democracy. I intend to uphold that. I hope you are too. XOXO

A few other must-reads[edit]

The userboxes have enough of my backstory. They’re a good enough biography to not repeat here.

I’m a man of science. As for political bias, I read The American Prospect and Canary Media a lot and regularly listen to On the Media, and I strongly believe in evidence-based policy, though I recommend reading the works of Murray Bookchin, Richard Rorty, Carlos Bulosan, Martin Luther King Jr., Daniel De Leon, and Jürgen Habermas to get a sense of what my full theoretical perspective is.

I have a Substack, but as of writing I haven’t posted on it in eight months. My writer’s block is 'that' bad. Help me please. I also watch a lot of Twitch and use Discord often, probably too much for my own good. You’ll figure out where to find me.

Musically my tastes are eclectic. I’m not into country or rap, honestly, nor am I into the indie or alternative scenes that much. Basically I just play whatever oldies I feel.

Messages here[edit]

You are welcome to put messages on this page as you wish, provided 1) you’re nice to me, 2) you’re open-minded and here in good faith, 3) you get to the point quickly, and 4) you’re nice to me. (That part’s really worth repeating.)

As I always say:

have courage and grace, stay curious, and be kind.
