Epicurus, Greek Philosopher

Hello, wikiers!

I am IonnKorr, I am an encyclopaedist.

2005 - October - 26.

Interests[edit]

My interests are, exclusivily, the two Sciences: Ancient History and Physics.

Especially:

  1. The pulling historical informations out of myths of Ancient Mythologies.
  2. Theoretical physics, Astrophysics, Cosmology, String theory, Physics of extra dimensions, study of Spacetime.

My two favorite Epicurean dicta[edit]

First philosophical dictum (for death) (in English)[edit]

"Death is nothing to us,

because

- when we exist, death is not yet present, and

- when death is present, then we do not exist."

"Don't worry about death."

While you are ""alive"", you don't have to deal with being "dead"",

but when you are dead you don't have to deal with it either,

because you aren't there to deal with it.

Second philosophical dictum (for me) (in Greek)[edit]

«Ουδέποτε επεθύμησα να γίνω αρεστός στους πολλούς.

- Αφ' ενός, δεν ασχολήθηκα να μάθω τι αρέσει στους πολλούς και

- αφ' ετέρου, τα όσα ήξερα εγώ βρισκόνταν πέραν της δικής τους αντίληψης.»

Etymology[edit]

  • Ionn < ιών (Greek verb: "ειμί") < Αιών ( = Century) < ~ Χρόνος ( = Time).
  • Korr < Khor < Χώρ < ~ Χώρος ( = Space).
