Ilio Costalis is a pseudonym of an American Born Photojournalist and artist.

Currently I Live in Miami, Florida and work as a freelance photographer.

I have many interests and am easily led from one by another. In the main, however, I am interested in first things, Identity and how a thing is determined to exist, that is to say ontology.

Other interests are: Photography, Art, Art History, History of the Ancient World, especially Mesopotamia, Rome and Greece.. Military history, Science, philosophy and music. Religion: I am very interested in Buddhism and mystical traditions and systems. Recently I have begun to study post-modern and critical philosophy.

My art practice is mostly photography and drawing though I do Paint. I like documenting outsider communities.
