The History of Video Games: today are far greater than what they were when they first came around. So, what is the history of them? When did they start to appear? Well, they first appeared in the 1950's with something called tinkering. It was a game where there are "Tennis for Two, appearing in 1958, was the first video game programmed purely for entertainment."[1] From this, in today's time there are many different genres and many ways to play video games.

Beginning
The idea of video games appeared with a Tennis game. It was a two-player game and was made to see how the programs that were being created worked. It came about in 1958, which is around the time that the first programs where being made. The video game that everyone remembers the most is the Atari it was the most spread one. Compared to the Tennis game the Atari was widely popular, it appeared in the 1970's.
1980's
During the 1980's many popular games that are known throughout the world came around. Some of these are "Pac-Man (1980), Ultima (1980), Mario Bros (1983), Tetris (1984) and SimCity (1989)." [1] Which had put Atari out of business, and they ended up becoming bankrupt. Today most of these classic games are still popular such as Mario and Pac-Man.
1990's
The 1990's brought portable gaming consoles. The PlayStation by Sony was the first console to be put on the market. The first PlayStation was a small portable to hand console that could be stuck in the pocket. With the PlayStation being introduced so did the violence of video games.
2000's
The 2000's was where technology skyrocketed, it introduced many new technologies such as cell phones and better internet. The introduction of better internet allowed for consoles and people to play with other in different parts of the world. It also allowed for LAN play if there was more than on controller.
2010's
The 2010's there became better graphics, different genres of games, and easy access to games. It also introduced Minecraft by Mojang which is still very popular 10 years later. With the better graphics games became more enjoyable and gained more attention with people.
2020's - Present
Today in the 2020's there are many different ways to play video games: It can be played on Xbox, PlayStation, or a PC (personal computer). The graphics in games are currently at the best and the violence is also high, more detail makes it so easy to get emersed in video games.
