Hugo H. Ottolenghi is a communications professional who has worked with national media companies and international corporations. He produces communications for corporations and professionals whose target audiences are consumers and businesses. Ottolenghi manages printed and online content, including marketing plans, budgets, and vendors. He provides services through his firm.

He is a senior consultant to the public relations firms Boardroom Communications and Pat Williams & Associates, providing writing, editing, strategic media planning and other services. He writes a blog called PR Prof.

Academic credentials[edit]

Ottolenghi teaches communications courses at the School of Communication at Florida International University. He previously also taught at Indian River State College. His undergraduate and graduate classes at FIU is built around intensive writing assignments that are graded on criteria such as organized presentation, clear statements of facts, attention to detail, and adherence to process. The primary goal is to produce individuals who can apply their developed skills to any profession for which high-quality writing is essential. The course at IRSC gave students writing and production skills in journalism, WordPress, and broadcast journalism.

He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Journalism and Mass Communication with a master's degree and from Swarthmore College with a bachelor's degree.

Writing and editing experience[edit]

Before starting his own company, he was business editor at the Stuart News, Palm Beach Executive Editor at the Daily Business Review, a daily newspaper of American Lawyer Media. His duties included directing real estate and banking coverage in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, and writing on intellectual property and the banking industry.

Before that, he was editorial director at what is now bankrate.com. He has published books on personal finance, including an edition of the Complete Idiot’s Guide to Managing Your Money.
