William Joseph Peacock (born 1977, January 24, in Decatur, Georgia) is an American writer known most notably as author of Mentally Incontinent, a website which chronicles stories from his life.
Biography[edit]
As a child, Peacock moved around a lot; he changed elementary school seven times, attending five in total. He then attended Mount Zion High School in Jonesboro from 1991-1995, then in 1996, went on to attend Georgia State University.[2] Seven months into his history course, he chose to leave university to become a computer programmer. It was then that he spent several years programming during the dot-com bubble. In 2002, Peacock set up his own website, Mentallyicontinent.com, which featured stories from his life. The site first gained popularity on the internet after a story titled 'The Wal-Mart Story' was published.[3] Following this, he began work on a book called Mentally Incontinent, which was a collection of stories from his site. Visitors to the site could vote to choose which stories would appear in the book. On October 31, 2005 he published the book with his own publishing company, 'This Is Not Art'.
Since then, he has worked as a freelance writer for several computing magazines (including CPU Magazine, PC Today and SmartComputing). He is a less than regular contributor to his friends' much more popular websites, Bill Doty's Brokennewz.com[4] and John Hargrave's Zug.com.[5] In the summer of 2006, Turner Broadcasting sent an open request for 3-5 minute video shorts for consideration for a new broadband comedy network (which would become Super Deluxe). Having been passed one of these requests from friend and director Ben Barak, he paired with Bill Doty to produce and write Drew Curtis's Fark TV, based on the Fark.com website, in October 2006. The last episode produced and written by Peacock aired in February of 2007. Peacock has since left to pursue other interests, but maintains a close friendship with the entire Fark TV crew.
He is currently working on his second book, Still Mentally Incontinent, which will be published by Gotham Books, an adult division of Penguin Group. It will follow the same open-vote system as his first book, and is scheduled to be released in autumn of 2008. Peacock currently resides in Metro Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife Andrea.
