Eleanor of Acquataine[edit]

Eleanor of Aquitaine

Eleanor was born in 1122, and she died in 1204. She was a very beautiful woman.[1] Not only was she beautiful, but she was one of the wealthiest women in Europe. She was quite the talk back in her day. She was married to two kings in her lifetime. She showed that women could have power, and she proved she could make a difference, no matter what gender.

Personal Life[edit]

Eleanor was always her own woman. She was royalty when she was only a child, when she became a duchess and later a queen consort. With her strong-willed personality she clashed with many people. She clashed with Louis's mother, Eleanor's mother-in-law. Louis's mother Adelaide judged Eleanor for everything she did. Eleanor never worried about what people thought of her.

Family[edit]

Eleanor was the mother to 10 kids, Richard, John, Eleanor, Henry, Marie, Geoffrey, Matilda, Joan, Alix, and William. They each were successful in their lives. Most of the boys became kings, the girls became queens, or duchesses. She was confined by Henry II of England because she sided with her sons' revolt against him. [2]

Marriages[edit]

Husband of Eleanor

Eleanor was married to Henry II of England when he inherited the throne in 1154. He was nine years younger than her. He was a successful king, he made many new laws, and broadened the legal system. He didn't quite get along well with the church, he often had ongoing conflict. She was a great influence on him as a king. She gave Henry II of England eight children. Her son, John, became a king also. He did not have the best reputation. He had many enemies, and battled many rulers. She also had two other sons that became minor kings. Eleanor was not always married to Henry, she was first married to Prince Louis, and then he became King. He lead many crusades, and he had quarrels with many other kings. Eleanor had a big role in hid crusades, she was very outspoken. Their marriage didn't last long, he was immature, and she was ready to move on with her life. Their marriage was annulled.

Her Beauty[edit]

Eleanor was known not only for her strong will, but also for her beauty. Her beauty was a blessing and a curse however, it was said that her beauty destroyed nations. A young man named Bernard was blessed with the pleasure of laying eyes on Eleanor. He had an instant crush on her, not only that, but also an erection. Not knowing what to do, he jumped into a freezing pond until it subsided. She was known as the most beautiful woman in Europe.
