Shawn Liu, (Chinese name Liu Xiangyang, Shaolin name Shi De Ru) is a 31st generation Grand Master of the Shaolin Temple. He was raised in Henan province and is a direct disciple of the Shaolin Temple Abbot, Great Master Upper Su Lower Xi (Su Xi). He has studied many different styles of martial arts over his life, including Shaolin Kung fu, Tai Chi, and Sanshou/Sanda. He is most famous in the United States as the "Godfather of Sanshou,"[1] and as the head coach of the United States National Sanshou Team, of which Cung Le and Patrick Barry were members.

He currently heads the K. Superstar Art of War Extreme Sanshou fighting promotion, bringing Sanshou to the forefront of modern martial arts in America.
