Erik Van Thienen is a Flemish Belgian (or vice versa), living in the Flemish university town of Leuven, Belgium.

Born on June 24th 1951, he grew up in Tessenderlo, Belgium. In 1971 he moved to Leuven to study Communication Science at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. After graduating in 1975 he started working for the Flemish section of the War Resisters' International in Brussels till 1982.

Since 1982 he works as a Computer Trainer/Consultant and since 1992 as an Internet Trainer/Consultant.

He is interested in Science, Technology and History, among other things.
