AMP, commonly referred to as AMP Movement, is a three-person Christian Hip Hop collective, comprised of Korean Americans Sam Ock, J. Han, and CL. To date, the group has released two studio albums, one EP, and various standalone singles. AMP is currently signed to independent record label Good Fruit Co, and currently resides in the United States.[1]

Origin[edit]
In 2008, J. Han uploaded to social media platform Facebook a video of himself rapping. Sam Ock unintentionally found the video and was impressed with Han's performance. Shortly afterwards, Ock contacted J. Han via Facebook to explore potential collaborative opportunities.
CL, cousin of Han's youth pastor, was invited to perform at New Covenant Fellowship Church in Germantown, Maryland, where he first met J. Han face-to-face. The two then worked on a few songs together shortly afterwards.
CL was introduced to Sam Ock through J. Han, and the trio eventually joined artistically on singles "Never Change" and "See You in Heaven," both released in 2009 with accompanying music video performances. After the "Never Change" video received massive acclaim at over one million views on YouTube, the trio was encouraged by a friend to recognize their collaborative chemistry and form a musical group together. In January 2010, the three musicians officially launched AMP,[2] short for "Amplify Christ."
AMP, Glory Songs, and The Transition EP (2010 - 2013)[edit]
Only a few months following the group's creation, the group released a self-titled debut studio album AMP on May 31, 2010.[3] The album features "Never Change" and "See You in Heaven," along with 11 previously unreleased songs. Shortly afterwards, the group began touring nationwide and collaborated with hip hop artists Gowe and Mickey Cho.[4]
On July 29, 2012, AMP released its sophomore album titled Glory Songs, which spanned 13 tracks.[5] The LP features production and vocal performances exclusively from the three members of AMP. Soon after the release, the group won the Creation Festival Indie East Stage Competition and performed alongside widely-known musicians Jamie Grace, Casting Crowns, and Tenth Avenue North at 2012 King's Fest. The trio also received opportunities to perform as the opening act for more widely known artists Trip Lee, Jimmy Needham, and Starfield.[6]
AMP released a six-song EP titled The Transition EP on September 23, 2013.[7] Shortly afterwards in 2014, the group founded independent record label Good Fruit Co and began touring internationally in South Korea.
