Issues thrown up[edit]

Exclusion of eponymous categories

Categories named after magazines create problems, since in those cases Category:Foo is a collection of pages about ontologically diverse things associated with Foo, rather than a collection of some sort of Foos.

What is the relation between Template:Cat main and Category:Eponymous categories? I think all categories in eponymous categories should use the template cat main, but not the converse.Dsp13 (talk) 14:42, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Comics

Though at present Category:Comics is not a subcat of Category:Magazines (both are a subcat of Category:Periodicals), some subcats of comics get casually categorized as subcats of magazines (e.g. Category:British comics as a subcat of Category:British magazines). To what extent should the category structure of comics be kept separate from that of magazines? Should it be disentangled, or more systematically related? In particular, should Category:YYYY comic debuts be a subcategory of Category:Publications established in YYYY?

Journals

Since there is no Category:Journals by country, journals edited in or particularly identified with a particular country often end up using the category tree under Category:Magazines by country. Again, should this be disentangled?

Stubs

Category:Magazine stubs seems quite clean, but Category:Comics stubs seems a bit more miscellaneous, containing comic characters & comic strips as well as publications which are comics.
