I am Chuck Cairns, Professor Emeritus of Linguistics at The City University of New York. My area of specialization within Linguistics is Phonology, the scientific study of the sound structure of human language.

I am a new Wikipedian; as an amatuer home chef, my first contribution has been to the entry about "bruschetta."
