Hi. I'm Stewart Nash, nom de plume Veritas. Welcome to my page!

"The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes" Matthew 21:42

“And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.” Mark 1:22

Paul writing the Epistles

What motivates me? — A desire to help people. I have always believed that people are the most important aspect of any human endeavor, despite our imperfections. It saddens me to see atrocities continued to be committed in our "enlightened" modern world. It seems that we will not be known so much for our progress in humanity, as for the ever increasing scale of death and suffering which we are able to inflict and the excessive abuse of our planet.

I am outraged by what humanity has let occur — among them, the holocaust, Chechneya, Bosnia, Rwanda, and now Darfur. All of these are cases of genocide, that we promised to never let reoccur. As massive as these individual problems are, there is still our unchanged belligerent nature that has led to innumerable pointless deaths in wars that needn’t be fought.

It is not just enough that we take care of ourselves, but we must also take care of our home for future generations. What master would desecrate his house? We do. It is unforgivable, and I myself am complicit in this tragedy.

I cannot go on living as I have. How could I continue to live as I have, knowing what I now know? My life should be dedicated to pursuing that which is right. I will try to effect justice for man and environment, equality, and freedom to live. I hope you do the same.

Quotes[edit]

Quaecumque sunt vera (Whatsoever things are true) — Northwestern University motto

"Time doesn't matter: only life matters." — The Fifth Element

"Le bon Dieu est dans le detail" (God is in the details) — Gustave Flaubert

“We don’t use English. We don’t translate. Why? Well, because French is not a translation of English. It is not English that has been coded into French. No, French is French. It is not a code of English. So you cannot just replace an English word with a French word. It does not really work. When French people says something in French it is not because they mean something in English, but they say it in French because they don’t know better, or to show off, or out of perversity. When they say it, they mean something in French. So to know what a word means in French, you have to observe the circumstances in which it is used. That is the meaning of the word — the circumstances in which it is used.” — Pierre Capretz, French in Action

“Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk” Mark 2:9

“No man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.” Mark 2:22

“for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart” 1 Samuel 16:7

“Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” 1 Samuel 15:22

“How are the mighty fallen in the midst of battle!” 2 Samuel 1:25

“How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!” 2 Samuel 1:27

“Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.” Matthew 26:52

"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." Leviticus 18:22
Note: I do not know why the Bible says this. I do not believe that homosexuality per se is wrong. It is a natural phenomenon. I just have to assume that the Bible knows what it is talking about. However, I am a strong proponent of gay rights.
