Who I am[edit]

I am a male university student from Israel. I joined the Wikipedia society in January 2006. Sadly, my useful knowledge is mostly limited to computer games. However, this in no way means I won't at least try to contribute in other areas as well. Specifically, my interests lie in biology, space exploration and politics. I don't drink, smoke, stick, or otherwise abuse my body. I am an atheist and a strong believer in violent resistance.

Name[edit]

Chodorkovskiy is not my real name. It is the name of a political prisoner in Russia. My real name is much cooler, but you do not need to know it.

Demeanor[edit]

"If you want a good friend - be a good friend". The "do one nice thing a day" attitude makes me sick to my stomach. However, don't let the tone of this article fool you - I'm a very nice person : )

View on Wikipedia[edit]

I think it's great. It is probably an adequate candidate for a wonder of the world status.

Wikipedia should be completely neutral, as it pretty much already is.

I'm prone to perfectionism, so don't be surprised if you see an edit war between six different Chodorkovskiys in the history log of a single article.

Political views[edit]

I believe "all men are equal", and human rights are a very good thing. However, the trend to "turn the other cheek" adopted by most human rights groups does not serve the cause of human rights. It serves to perpetuate their violations. Also, the KKK, Amnesty International and the BBC really bug me.

I support the "War on Terror", the US and the IDF.

I do not equate terrorism with warfare. Terrorism: deliberate targeting of non-combatants for political purposes.

I oppose the use of weapons of mass destruction. However, "guns don't kill people, people do."

I support capital punishment. I do not weep for Stanley Williams.

I'm a "bad" Jew. Meaning, I support Zionism. However, Zionism is not racism: Globalization is a good thing. I don't weep for the guy who drew the Zionism article poster either.

I fully support environmentalists, Greenpeace and various animal rights groups. Until they start violating rights.

I support the right of people to have sex with whoever they can acheive mutual consent with. Strapping a cow to the farm fence is not "mutual consent".

Oh, and about me constantly bringing up my ethnicity: it's sort of a first-strike policy against anti-Semites.

Favorite people[edit]

Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, Valeria Novodvorskaya, Avigdor Liberman, in that order.

Does this answer your question?

Past contributions[edit]

I take the part about not taking credit seriously. If you're inclined to know what specific articles I edited/created, use the page accessible through the toolbox. Generally, I find myself combating vandals, copy-editing other people's sloppy (but valuable) contributions, and simply bringing pages in accordance with the Manual of Style, rather than writing articles or making screenshots of Tanya Adams. So far I'm still part of WikiProject Kiddy Pool.

Google and I[edit]

I gained much publicity in February 2006 when this page became the first listed in the Internet search engine Google under "Chodorkovskiy". A Google bomb campaign was, for a time, successful in placing some guy's biography in the top spot. However, seeing as how many of my fans link to this page in blogs and online discussion boards, the former is bound to fall behind sooner or later.

Google insists that these results are the result of computer ranking algorithms, and are thus not directly decided by Google. Google has researched this matter and believes that one reason for this result is that I often use the word "Chodorkovskiy" to refer to myself in the third body, while Russians more often refer to each other by their first and father's names.

Google had been contacted numerous times about the matter, but had not provided a response. In order for Google to resort to a technical solution, they would need a petition of over 50,000 requests, I think.

To this day, my user page fluctuates between the #1 and #2 positions for the search term "Chodorkovskiy" on the Google site, despite the outrage of many Russians around the world.
