The Cotai Strip is the name of the casino and tourism project at the Cotai District, Macau, inspired by the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
The project is invested by Las Vegas Sands, and LVS currently has a trademark application pending with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the name "Cotai Strip".[1] However, the name Cotai Strip is used generically by the press, as well as other Cotai Strip casino companies, such as Melco-PBL[2] and Galaxy Entertainment, in their financial filings and websites.
The name "Cotai" came from the names of the two islands, the Taipa Island and the Coloane Island. Therefore, people often mix up the LVS's project of Cotai Strip with Estrada do Istmo, the actual road connecting Taipa and Coloane, or even broader, the whole district.
Although Galaxy Entertainment's Grand Waldo Hotel commenced operations in 2006 and was the first casino to open on the Cotai Strip, the first big milestone for the Cotai Strip was the opening of Las Vegas Sands’ Venetian Macao on August 28, 2007.

- Cotai Mega Resort (aka GalaxyWorld Resort). There will be 3 hotels open when phase is complete, and 9 hotels in total when all phases are finished.

MGM Grand Paradise
- Nothing official announced yet but has stated that they plan to build a casino on Cotai
- Owns land on Cotai and has stated that they plan to build one casino resort that will be "the most beautiful hotel on earth".[5]
- Owns the Macau Orient Golf Course on Cotai, adjacent to the Lotus Bridge and across from Macao Studio City. Has not announced any plans other than to operate it as a golf course for time being. [6]
