A squadron in air force, army aviation, or naval aviation comprises a number of military aircraft and their aircrews, usually of the same type, typically with 12 to 24 aircraft. In the Royal Air Force squadrons are the most basic flying unit.

This list is based upon that in a BAE Systems publicity insert to Jane's Defence Weekly, 25 April 2018, and the Scramble list of squadrons accessed at https://www.scramble.nl/planning/orbats/united-kingdom/royal-air-force on 8 September 2020.
