Trivia[edit]

  • Not once has the AV-8B (or any V/STOL aircraft for the matter) been available to the player, for reasons unknown. It is most likely that the 'flight dynamics' in the Ace Combat series would not allow for a unscripted player controlled V/STOL aircraft. Also, many of the missions and nature of the combat would make any hovering, stationary aircraft sitting ducks.
  • The YF-22 was mistakenly labeled the F-22 in Air Combat and Ace Combat 2.
  • In Ace Combat 2, the Su-35 & the Su-37 had the Su-27's tailfins.
  • The F-15S/MTD in Ace Combat 4 was mistakingly designated as the F-15 ACTIVE. You can tell by the nozzles, the S/MTD has 2D Thrust vectoring, whereas the ACTIVE has 3D ones. It is also incorrecty fitted with a single seat, the S/MTD (and ACTIVE) were two-seat aircraft. The same holds true to F-15S/MTD Eagle+ in Ace Combat 3. It is portrayed as a single-cockpit, 3D-thrust vectoring equipped fighter aircraft (hence more like ACTIVE rather than S/MTD); although this can be disregarded given the futuristic setting of Ace Combat 3.
