Top five features to look for in a candidate
- Do they have the time to devote? An arb who doesn't take the time to read the diffs in context are doing a disservice to the accused as well as to the project.
- Do they have the proper demeanor? Mannerism and attitude are extremely important. Yes, we are all human, but arbitrators are supposed to be a cut above the rest, and should be held to a much higher standard.
- Have they demonstrated good ethics, critical thinking skills, and good ole common sense?
- Has the candidate demonstrated bias or favoritism? It is extremely important for arbs to be neutral.
- Do they have a mind of their own, and are capable of separating themselves from groupthink?

Many of us already know the current system doesn't work as well as it should. DS/AE needs a facelift, and Banedon appears to have the moxy needed to help make it happen. What he doesn't have is the experience as an administrator who knows full well the problems with DS/AE/irreversible unilateral actions at sole discretion, and what all is involved when an editor has to appeal an action. |  Neutral

His response to my DS/AE question made me indecisive enough to change from support to a ?. I'm studying the situation, and don't want to make a final decision based on a single Q&A. |

With that in mind, I'm hoping we can elect a team of arbitrators who can work well together, and are on the same page in that regard. I'm of the mind that WP needs some serious changes, including implementing a level of decorum at ANI/AN and several modifications to DS/AE as I've mentioned in the past. | Neutral
