Request for features, parameters and documentation[edit]

Please:

add a parameter to display the artist name if different from their article name.
add a feature not only put the category into the artist's parent category if it exists, but also display the corresponding albums category if it exists.
add a documentation sub-page to explain usage.

No. 2 was initially done, but a user removed it. I have now restored it. No. 3, I have started. No. 2, I don't know quite how to do. I tried, but was unable to get it. Good Ol’factory ^(talk) 02:53, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Recorded by?[edit]

This template adds the hatnote "This category contains songs by artist_name" to category pages (e.g. Category:Michael Bolton songs). This seems ambiguous as to the meaning of "by". Based on the fact that it also adds the page to Category:Songs by artist and the description at that page, which starts "This category is for songs by recording artist", I conclude that the description means "This category contains songs recorded by artist_name". Is this correct? If so, should the word recorded be added to remove the ambiguity? —[AlanM1(talk)]— 07:17, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
