Alte Nationalgalerie[edit]

@Ham II: Just FYI, the sculptures in the Alte Nationalgalerie you removed from the list are viewable from inside the main entrance, which is accessible to the public. In other words, they are not hidden in a corner of the building. I don't feel strongly either way, but just wondering if this changes whether or not the works are considered 'public' art. ---Another Believer _(Talk) 18:52, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think sculptures located inside museums, even in circulation spaces such as entrance halls, are outside the scope of "public art", otherwise all the works on display at the Alte Nationalgalerie would qualify. (I therefore also don't think that Eilhard Mitscherlich (sculpture) should be included in the template.) I can't make out whether Mercury and Psyche is indoors or out – is it in a niche at the entrance? If it is, under a portico or in a porch, I would say it counts as being outside and therefore is public art for our purposes. I didn't include Bogenspannerin with the other Alte Nationalgalerie works in the Museum Island section as I wrongly assumed that the cast there was indoors, so sorry about that; I see that both the Berlin casts on Commons are in the open air. I think that the article Bogenspannerin should be merged with The Archer (Lepcke). Ham II (talk) 20:20, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ham II, I'm fine with all your notes. If I recall, Mercury and Psyche and Prometheus Bound and the Oceanids are outside but covered, but it's possible they are in a transitional area b/w outside and the main lobby. None of the images at Commons clarify, so some Google image searching may be needed. I do not object to merging Bogenspannerin and The Archer, assuming the Berlin cast is not independently notable.
