Conservative Party (UK) leadership election, 2003[edit]

I have added Conservative Party leadership election, 2003 to the template since the article covers his removal as leader. Dunarc (talk) 23:07, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Local elections[edit]

I have added links to the 2002 and 2003 local elections which were fought when Iain Duncan Smith was Conservative leader. Similar elections are included in other party leader templates from around this time and these two contests were significant as the largest tests of political opinion during Iain Duncan Smith's brief leadership of the Conservative Party. In both cases the Conservative performance was seen to have an impact on his perception as party leader and indeed in 2003 one of the stories of the election was the resignation of Crispin Blunt from the Conservative front bench on the grounds he thought Duncan Smith was a "handicap" to his party and called for his removal as leader. This had some impact on his eventual loss of the leadership a few months later. Dunarc (talk) 20:59, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
