More category links?[edit]

If any editor sees any possible uses for more than one level of fallback category, user:BrownHairedGirl has offered (at Template talk:Category see also if exists) to implement that via a module.

At the moment I don't think that I would use such a facility. E.g. from a year-category for establishments, I'm using the template to show links for the disestablishments category for the corresponding year or decade, but if neither of those exist, I'm not sure that it would be useful to link to the century. – Fayenatic London 20:40, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Fayenatic, I have now modified the template to support up 4 parameters.
I needed the third one for Template:Courts and tribunals established in year category header, where I wanted to test for year, century and decade. I have implemented that[1] as:
{{Category see also if exists 2<!--
    -->|Courts and tribunals disestablished in {{Title year}}<!--
    -->|Courts and tribunals disestablished in the {{DECADE|{{Title year}}}}<!--
    -->|Courts and tribunals disestablished in the {{Century name from title year}}}}<!--
-->}}
While I was at it, I added support for a 4th param. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 18:51, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
