Third opinion wanted[edit]

A different point of view between me and Indopug. Should people and groups who were in the live band, or were a temporary member of the band, be added to the artist section, like in Template:Ramones, or should they not unnamed at all in the template. Established personnel (e.g. Stephen Street) should be given consideration in an artist's article, but not in a navbox; unless they are solely associated with the act. Template:Oasis (I know) look like a pretty solid example. Otherwise, people can sneak in minor players, and thus go overboard. You may want to look at Template:Beastie Boys, too. Zak Starkey was as much a member of Oasis, as Simon Tong was for Blur. ;) In the very first change I made, I made a personnel section, maybe we should return to that, just like in the Beastie Boys template. Belsen (talk) 18:07, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Zak Starkey recorded on a number of albums with Oasis, while Tong was around for just one short tour. The point of a template is to provide links that a user is highly probable to visit to find further information on the band. I see no logic why Street (who played a vital role on the recording of four of Blur's most important albums) would be considered irrelevant, while bit players like Karl Van Den Bossche and London Community Gospel Choir are to be included. The Gospel Choir article wouldn't discuss its involvement with Blur in detail, while Street's expands upon his work with Blur. indopug (talk) 13:53, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed a few of your changes. Do not add red links to a template, its kinda pointless; that Gospel Chair link is very tangential, and Elastica is completely unrelated to Blur. I think some of this bickering can be solved with a Template:Damon Albarn. A lot of big bands have navboxes for lead singers that are prolific or just solo (e.g., Scott Weiland). StevePrutz (talk) 15:18, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
