Store of Knowledge

  • ... that the Store of Knowledge chain of educational toy stores was conceived as a fundraising tool for public television stations? Source: Gonzalez, Virginia (April 5, 1994). "New shop promotes learning: KCET store offers educational toys". Daily News of Los Angeles. p. N3. Gary Ferrell, chief financial officer at KCET, said the store serves two purposes. "It's as much a part of our mission and a part of our vision for the station to explore new ways of generating revenue that are consistent with our basis mission of lifelong learning," Ferrell said.

Overall: @Sammi Brie: Good article, but I don't see how the source cites the hook. Onegreatjoke (talk) 23:08, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

    • @Onegreatjoke: "generating revenue". If this does not satisfy, an ALT1: Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 23:44, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
ALT1: ... that most Store of Knowledge locations provided revenue to local public television stations?
@Sammi Brie: What i'm talking about is how the source does not seem to support the idea that it's funding other stations. when it says "a part of our vision for the station to explore new ways of generating revenue" it looks to be saying that it's trying to generate revenue for their station, not others. @Onegreatjoke: that's fair since the ref is from early in the chain's history. How about ALT2... Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 16:50, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
ALT2: ... that weeks after its CEO said the chain had no plans to open or close stores, Store of Knowledge filed for bankruptcy and initiated a liquidation? [1][2]

@Sammi Brie and Onegreatjoke: isn't it kind of SYNTHy to play these two separate sources off each other if the sources don't draw the connection? theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/her) 07:49, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
if you want an ALT3... Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 06:06, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
ALT3: ... that local public television stations were minority owners of many individual locations of the Store of Knowledge chain and often received royalties or a portion of sales?
