Skogssamer[edit]

1871 illustration of the skogssamish place at Spänningsvallen between Järfojaur and Seudnur in Arvidsjaurs municipality

  • ... that bears were known to be part of a special cult and that the skogssame (pictured) people had intricate ceremonies about them?

Created by BabbaQ (talk), Werldwayd (talk), and GoingBatty (talk). Nominated by BabbaQ (talk) at 20:03, 16 June 2014 (UTC).

  • Per DYK Reviewing guide In addition to at least 1,500 characters of readable prose, the article must not be a stub. This requires a judgement call, since there is no mechanical stub definition (see the Croughton-London rule). If an article is, in fact, a stub, you should temporarily reject the nomination; if the article is not a stub, ensure that it is correctly marked as a non-stub, by removing any stub template(s) in the article, and changing any talk-page assessments to start-class or higher. — Maile (talk) 22:06, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Anyone reading the article can see that this is no Stub article. As I am the creator I feel it would be wrong for me to change it from the stub to start. --BabbaQ (talk) 22:59, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
  • As it was clearly not a Stub I have removed that class until amother one can be added.--BabbaQ (talk) 23:02, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Verifying stub was removed. Full review needed. — Maile (talk) 23:58, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
  • C-class added as classification.--BabbaQ (talk) 16:02, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
  • For crying out loud, bears can't be part of a cult because bears don't have religious or spiritual beliefs. Try:
ALT1: that the skogssame people (pictured) had intricate ceremonies related to bears?

LOL, I support that hook.--BabbaQ (talk) 15:17, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
  • New enough (created 13 June, nom 16 June), and long enough. QPQ done. Original hook and ALT1 are referenced to offline citation #11, taken AGF. Text is objective and neutral; mostly referenced (but see issue 2). Hook image is free, and appears in the article. If you like you could add these commonscats to the article: {{Commons category|Sami people}} and {{Commons category|Sami culture}}. Re copyvio and close paraphrasing: all citations are in Scandinavian languages and only two of these are online, so I take it AGF that transcription is within WP policy. Issues: (1) The article is in need of copy editing for Standard English; it cannot be promoted for DYK until this has been done. I'm hoping a volunteer will please kindly do at least some of it for us (paging Bellemora? Orlady?), otherwise you can get help at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests. (2) References missing from: the first paragraph in the Skogssame Villages section, and the second paragraph in the Distribution and Numbers section. When issues 1 and 2 are resolved, this nom should be OK. --Storye book (talk) 10:20, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
  • I have fixed issue 2. Awaiting copyediting to solve Issue 1. I have contacted a few other users as well for copyediting help. Regards,--BabbaQ (talk) 10:44, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you, BabbaQ. We are just awaiting the copy editing now, then the nom should be OK. --Storye book (talk) 11:26, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
I've struck ALT0 based on my earlier conversation with BabbaQ -- hope that's OK. EEng (talk) 15:17, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you, EEng. Still awaiting copy editing for the article. --Storye book (talk) 15:25, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
  • The article has now been copyedited by a few different editors for better Standard English. Storye book --BabbaQ (talk) 17:47, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you, BabbaQ. All issues resolved. Good to go with ALT1. --Storye book (talk) 08:30, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
