• ... that when the Thoroughbred racehorse Pinza won the 1953 Derby Stakes, its jockey snapped a string of 27 failures and retired from horse-racing?

• 5x expansion, date and hook reference are fine. I found no evidence of close paraphrasing. I thought the hook a bit awkwardly expressed, mentioning as it does "snapping a string". What about:-
