Lord, have mercy upon us (Mendelssohn)[edit]

  • Comment: I like that the image is from the exact year. He didn't write many compositions originally in English, but I don't know how to say that better. - Sorry, I'm a day late, was unexpectedly busy in RL yesterday.

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: (1) Nom only one day late, and I accept your explanation. (2) I can find citations to support all the hook except for the fact that it sets a text from the Book of Common Prayer. Can you find the relevant bit of text on The (online) Book of Common Prayer or show me a citation which has it? (3) Ref 3 (Choral Wiki) mentions the Book of Common Prayer, but that site is open to public contribution, and thus not an authoritative citation for WP, as I understand it. Can you replace that citation? (4) Ref 1 has "responses to the Commandments" - maybe you could use that in the hook instead? Storye book (talk) 13:55, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for looking! I'll see what I can do. BCB is much more "common" than commandements, which someone will ask to have explained, as in todays hook they explained that Arabella is an opera composed by Richard Strauss. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:51, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
Is any of these good enough: [1] [2] [3] [4] - any preference? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:09, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
Another: [5] --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:21, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
I changed "a text" to "responses" in the hook. - the key point is "in English" - their were few pieces he composed first in English. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:39, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, Gerda! Yes, your suggestion number 4 is good, and I agree it should be "responses" not "text." If you could replace the Choral Wiki citation in the article with your new number 4 suggestion, then I believe the nom should be OK. (Meanwhile your noms often set music going in my head. This time it's "Hear my Prayer" which we used to sing at school in Canterbury.) Storye book (talk) 15:51, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
... and now that is on my mind, too ;) - will use ref 4 from these. - We sang this one (Herr, sei gnädig) in February and will repeat in March. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:56, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
