Jim Proudfoot (journalist)

  • ... that Canadian journalist Jim Proudfoot was reportedly a lifetime hitchhiker to get to sporting events? [1]
    • ALT1:... that Canadian journalist Jim Proudfoot was educated in a two-room schoolhouse by his own father? [2]

  • Forgive me, for I'm not a native speaker, but the 'reportedly' in the hook seems to cast some doubt on this fact. Has it been challenged anywhere? If not, could that word be removed? (ALT1 is not too exciting) --- Other than that, the article is long enough, has been created on the day indicated, is well-sourced and neutrally worded. I spot-checked for plagiarism and did not find any. The hook is short and sufficiently interesting. QpQ done, I have no complaints. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 13:20, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
  • The word reportedly is required in this case since that statement is cited as the recollection of one person, Milt Dunnell. The statement is directly attributed to Dunnell only, as opposed to common knowledge. If there were multiple reliable sources which indicated the same, then it could be stated as fact without the word reportedly. Flibirigit (talk) 14:54, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
  • OK, I take your word for it. It is also reflected in the article in this meaning.Somehow wondering, though, how many 'reportedly'-s and 'according-to'-s we would have to include into all of Wikipedia... --Pgallert (talk) 06:23, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
