I Am a Ukrainian[edit]

A still from I am a Ukrainian

Created by Piotrus (talk), Zeddocument (talk). Nominated by Piotrus (talk) at 07:07, 25 March 2014 (UTC).

  • Note: I just moved the page from I am a Ukrainian to I Am a Ukrainian and changed the hook to reflect this. 97198 (talk) 10:29, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
  • Note: I am in the process of obtaining a freely licensed image (OTRS), so if this is reviewed before I add image and pictured, please delay any featuring until this process is completed. PS. Picture now added, OTRS permission still pending. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:22, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
* Interesting enough. Enough characters. Hook is sourced. Will recheck this article soon, since I see that there may be work in progress regarding the image. Star Lord - 星王 (talk) 18:35, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
  • No, 1500 characters are required, purposely designed not to be too hard to meet. Thanks, Matty.007 19:54, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, Matty. I have modified my text above.Star Lord - 星王 (talk) 20:02, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Still waiting for the update on OTRS. Interested editors may want to speed the matter by asking for an update at Facebook if this takes too long; I last asked on March 30. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:33, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Piotrus, it has been over a month. At this point, if the image from the video has not been approved, nice as it is, I think this nomination needs to proceed under the assumption that it will not be in time for use on DYK. Please note that the hook does not accurately reflect the article: the unequivocal statement of "most successful" has a "has been called" qualifier in the article, and that's as strong as the hook should be. However, what the BBC source actually said was that none of the other Ukraine videos "has had anything like the impact" of this one. (It isn't talking about viral videos, just videos in general.) So perhaps both article and hook should be reformulated, rather than just the hook. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:50, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
  • BlueMoonset, ALT1 per yur suggest do you know how we can check if and what @ was received by OTRS? As you can tell from the linked Facebook page, the owner claims to have send the email weeks ago. Since I cannot see it, I cannot help address whatever the problem is, which can be from the author lying to me to OTRS being backlogged or forgetting to update the template.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:38, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Piotrus, all I can suggest is trying the WP:OTRS page for info on what to do, and/or the WP:OTRS noticeboard, which may be where you should post a query. (I can't tell whether this or email is the preferred method.) There may be other OTRS-related page that are pointed to by these two. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:54, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Piotrus, glad to hear the image is squared away. I'd like to suggest a somewhat different approach to that of ALT1; I've just similarly revised the relevant sentence in the article:
The primary reason is that the BBC article isn't talking about viral videos, which are few in number, but of all the "countless" videos from the revolution, and I think it's an important distinction. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:41, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Independent reviewer needed for ALT2. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:38, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Done. ALT2 is verified. Copy edits made. Drmies (talk) 17:26, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
  • I am concerned that some of the phrasing in this article is too close to that of its sources. Compare "shot the video after the January 22 deaths of the first five protesters, including three from gunshot wounds. Marushevska explained that she made the video partly out of guilt because she felt that she was not doing enough to help the EuroMaidan Revolution, and partly out of frustration with foreigners’ ignorance about why demonstrators were camping out on Kyiv’s streets to change their government" with "She shot the video after the Jan. 22 deaths of the first five protesters, including three from gunshot wounds....She made the video partly out of guilty because she felt that she wasn’t doing enough to help the EuroMaidan Revolution and partly out of frustration with foreigners’ ignorance about why demonstrators were camping out on Kyiv’s freezing streets to change their government". I'm also unsure about the validity of the current hook: that the video has the greatest impact is presented as an opinion in the article, but the hook presents it as fact. Nikkimaria (talk) 22:28, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Adding "according to the BBC", either at the end (with a comma before it) or after the initial "that" (with a comma after it), should take care of any hook concerns. Which do you prefer, Piotrus? BlueMoonset (talk) 19:45, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Drmies, can I ask you to please check the revised section of the article, and also the revised hook as follows:
Many thanks. (Should it say "pictured" or "scene pictured"?) BlueMoonset (talk) 03:37, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
  • It should say "scene pictured", I suppose. I'm sorry I didn't spot that close paraphrase the first time; thanks Nikkimaria. Anyway, I tweaked it some, and then I tweaked it some more since it was kind of awkward. So, tick it off and send it on its way. Drmies (talk) 04:31, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
