Hotel Arctic (Murmansk)[edit]

  • Comment: This assertion is supported by a single ref, and it's not the best ref. But it's acceptable in my opinion (meets our WP:RS criteria, all things considered), and see Talk:Hotel Arctic (Murmansk) for my detailed exposition on this.

  • I do not see the problem of putting sources into the article that are more comprehensive. I outlined details on Talk:Hotel Arctic (Murmansk). The "Renovations" section has an unsourced paragraph that would profit from some wikilinking. The "newness" might be an issue, as the article is translated from ru.wikipedia. I just browsed the additional DYK rules again and found no hint how to handle translated articles---opinions? Otherwise, length and date are okay. --Pgallert (talk) 07:55, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Right, thanks. I don't know how I missed those, I guess I was mainly using refs in the Russian source article. So we now have good sources showing its the tallest building north of the Circle, thanks for your help. I don't know how many rooms the friggin' thing has. This may be confused by before/after (renovation) issues, but most sources do say 635 -- but I have one source saying 1,030. Since I don't have complete confidence in either number, I just removed the entire sentence. I redacted much of the middle paragraph of the renovation section and sourced the architect's name, so I think this addresses all your issues. As to the translation issue, I'd say sure, translations are eligible. I've done a couple others that got DYKs, it's new to the English Wikipedia, and it's a comparable amount of work to making a new article. This should probably be clarified in the DYK eligibility rules though. Herostratus (talk) 09:38, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
  • (I do read Russian) All concerns addressed. I have dropped another notice about the room numbers at Talk:Hotel Arctic (Murmansk), but this is independent of the DYK discussion; article is long enough also after the removal of the statement. --Pgallert (talk) 12:27, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
