Article meets newness and length requirements, and there are no apparent policy issues with respect to the article text, referencing, etc. But the hook is unclear to me. The article doesn't say explicitly that Beckingham was a chief justice, unless I missed something? The hook also should say what country he was from: "chief justice" and "the kingdom" don't give any idea for context. Neutrality^talk 21:44, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Does that work for you? Also, is it Elias Beckingham or Elias de Beckingham? Multiple sources seem to call him the latter. Neutrality^talk 07:01, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Good hook, yeah. No, it's the Victorian antiquarians who assumed everyone back in the day still though they were French :) using the modern historians, they transliterate into English. — O Fortuna^{semper crescis, aut decrescis} 18:16, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
