BanG Dream!

  • ... that the music anime BanG Dream! was studio Sanzigen's first non-science fiction production? Source: Interview with Sanzigen staff (rough translation: The animation was produced by Sanzigen, who is known for its works such as Arpeggio of Blue Steel -Ars Nova- and ID-0. BanG Dream! 2nd Season by the company, which has been working on cell-look animation with full 3DCG, will be its first "non-sci-fi" work.")

  • Newness requirement satisfied by promotion to GA status on October 4. Article is also long enough, neutral, and makes appropriate use of citations. The hook is short enough and has in-line citations (I don't read Japanese, but sourcing and proffered translation accepted in good faith). The hook is only moderately interesting to me, but that's likely due to my lack of familiarity with the anime genre. The only thing holding me back from approving is that a QPQ needs to be done. ALT1 ... that the concept of the multimedia franchise BanG Dream! involves bands composed of voice actors who can play their own instruments?
ALT2 ... that early in its history, the multimedia franchise BanG Dream! gained media attention for having a fan event where only nine groups out of a capacity of 400 attended?
@ZappaOMatic and Cbl62: Do any of these hooks have broader appeal? As a (admittedly rather not-so-big) fan of the franchise, I'd have to agree that the original hook doesn't appeal to readers who aren't part of the franchise's fanbase. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 10:58, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
I initially considered ALT1 but hesitated as that had already been used for a previous DYK, though I wouldn't be opposed to sticking with that if it's fine with everyone else. QPQ has also been provided. ZappaMatic 21:28, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
I actually only remembered the earlier hook (the Poppin'Party/Roselia joint one) after making the comment, but it could be left here as an option. ALT2 I think might be a bit too negative but nothing else in the article came to mind as potentially being "hooky" to non-anime fans. Do you have any other suggestions? • QPQ now satisfied. Alt0 and alt1 are approved and supported by Japanese language sourcing, as to which good faith is assumed. If someone capable of reading Japanese has a chance to verify, that would be good. As for alt2, the cited source makes reference, after the fact, to the 9 of 500 circles being subscribed, but it doesn't support the proffered hook fact, i.e., that the production gained "media attention" for this disappointment "early in its history." Accordingly, I am striking alt2. Cbl62 (talk) 19:05, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
@Cbl62: While not using the exact words "media attention" and "early in its history", the general gist of ALT2 is mentioned in the ComicsVerse article under the "A Dark Day in BANG DREAM History" section. Would a revised hook that only uses the term "attention" and not mentioning the "early in its history" wording work instead? Something like:
ALT3 ... that a 2017 fan event for the multimedia franchise BanG Dream! received attention for only hosting nine dōjin groups out of a capacity of 400?
For disclosure, my preferred hook is actually ALT1 since I think it encapsulates the franchise better to those unfamiliar with it and even non-anime fans (unlike ALT0 which probably only really appeals to anime fans), this is just to see if there are any alternatives.
