Article expansion new enough and long enough. Hook sourced and verified as accurate. The Redlist citation says that Erinaceus amurensis avoids cultivated fields as a habitat, while Mammals of China says that it actively inhabits them, it seems that this shouldbe addressed in the article?--Kevmin § 16:16, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
- Indeed, the habitat is tricky because the two sources differ in a number of particulars, which is why I referenced the habitat bit in the way I have. If asked to choose between the two, I would go for the Chinese source as likely to be more accurate. In the article Tolai hare which I was working on yesterday, using the same Chinese source, I notice that the Redlist quotes "(Smith and Xie 2008)". One of the authors of the Chinese source is Don E Wilson, author of "Mammal species of the World", which seems to be THE accepted book on mammals. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:13, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: I would recommend erring on the side of caution. The conflict between the two sources is something that will inevitably be picked up by the main page patrol, and used as a reason to delay and harass. I would suggest something along the lines of "..there is differing opinion on the habitat preference of Erinaceus amurensis, with [Redlist] noting blah blah and [Chinese source] saying blah blah. That covers both and avoids giving undo weight to one or the other.--Kevmin § 14:11, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
