Template:Derry-note
There is a longstanding Derry/Londonderry name dispute. This article follows the approach that Derry refers to the city and County Londonderry refers to the county (outside of organisations' names, which may follow their own approaches).

As not everyone looks at every note, and as the text of this note will not show up when only viewing the page's source, it may be prudent to combine the template with a hidden text note for editors WP:DERRY. For instance:

Background[edit]
To avoid constant editing disputes, Wikipedia agreed a compromise solution which was proposed in 2004, regarding the Derry/Londonderry name dispute. Wikipedia uses Derry for the city and County Londonderry for the county, in article names and content. Exceptions apply for the proper names of organisations and other entities, regardless of whether they use Derry or Londonderry.
