Template:DNBSupp/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Purpose[edit]

To apply a text tag to articles where the 1901 supplement to the DNB has been used as a point of reference for constructing the article.

Usage[edit]

There are two methods to apply:

Method one: Plain[edit]

The template without any parameters:

{{DNBSupp}} produces:
Public Domain This article incorporates text from a publication now in the public domainLee, Sidney, ed. (1901). Dictionary of National Biography (1st supplement). London: Smith, Elder & Co. {{cite encyclopedia}}: Missing or empty |title= (help)

Method two: Piped[edit]

The template with one parameter (pipe symbol and article name) that links to the associated article at Wikisource's Dictionary of National Biography, 1901 Supplement:

{{DNBSupp|wstitle=Busher, Leonard}} produces:
Wikisource This article incorporates text from a publication now in the public domainLee, Sidney, ed. (1901). "Busher, Leonard". Dictionary of National Biography (1st supplement). London: Smith, Elder & Co.

Hidden category[edit]

This template includes one of two hidden subcategories of category Category:Wikipedia articles incorporating text from the Dictionary of National Biography. If a "Piped" template is used, Category:Articles incorporating DNB01 text with Wikisource reference is included. If a "plain" template is used, Category:Articles incorporating DNB01 text without Wikisource reference is included. In either case the category does not appear at the bottom of the article page, but the article is listed on the category page.
