ATA ZIF conectors for hard drives should be mentioned, but I have yet to find a good source, eg is the best doco i have found http://andy.the-broyles.com/blogsphere.nsf/D6Plinks/6VU8SG

Rather difficult to achieve. Different sockets for different processors, along with the qaulity of the socket all affect the life of the socket. Rilak (talk) 12:06, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are SATA connectors for new Apple Macbooks ZIF?[edit]

The use of ZIF connectors in the Apple iPod is mentioned. Would the connectors used for the SATA connections in the 2011 and 2012 Macbooks count as "ZIF" (and a third connector - I think the display)? Or are they some newer type of connector technology? They are flat, but I wouldn't say they were "zero-force", at least not when inserting them by hand. Perhaps when they are placed by machine and there is no question as to whether it is positioned correctly (x-y), it can be done with "zero force". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimw338 (talk • contribs) 13:58, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
