Major revisions[edit]

Although I did not create this article from scratch, its origins lie in a stub of three lines (which I did my best to include while writing the new one).

I felt the murder of Kayla John relevent to the community's history, and it is thus included.

I noticed some of the pages I cited thank Roland Shanks for the information provided re:History of Zeballos, so please add his name accordingly if any contact/website of his comes up. --Alexis 07:03, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You misspelled "relevant."

Location?[edit]

Judging by the map, the article should say that Zeballos is on the southwest coast of the island. Am I correct, or is there some point I am failing to see? Jon Rob 13:37, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The map shown is correct to me --Alexis 16:55, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Murder[edit]

The section about the murder makes passing mention of racial undertones, but does not mention what these might be- neither the article nor the citation seem to make any mention of either victim's or peprpetrator's race. Please expand on that?

Excellent point, I'll look into that. --Alexis 17:29, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: not moved. Clear consensus that the village is not the primary topic. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 09:57, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Zeballos, British ColumbiaZeballos – Name is unique, secondary uses exist - Zeballos Inlet, Zeballos River, Zeballos Lake, Zeballos Peak, but none are as notable and rarely heard of, unlike this municipality. Target is redirect to current title. Canadian disambiguation rules per CANSTYLE say unique town/city names take no disambiguation Skookum1 (talk) 03:37, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - not sure about the other moves, but this small place is named after a Spanish cartographer, and is a common Spanish surname and place name. Of course English language wikipedia is weighted to English speaking geography, but all the same es:Zeballos is a substantial es.wp dab page and I have expanded en.wp's dab following it. If this move goes ahead - and I can't see why it would benefit users outside of BC, then Zeballos will need moving out of the way → Zeballos (disambiguation). • I'm prepared to withdraw this because of the Zeballos dab page, since discovered and not expected to be there (new, I think huh?). The question remains though is what is the PRIMARYTOPIC in English? There are any number of dab pages where foreign-language wikipedia's could be referenced, but none would be the primary topic in English. And noting in passing that cartographer/ship's officer's name was "Ceballos" in Malaspina's spelling.Skookum1 (talk) 08:37, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is none. There more often than not isn't a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC in English for most potential article titles, and we shouldn't expect there to be. Primary topics are exceptional, and only occur when one topic use is 60-70% of all possible uses. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:13, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The items listed in the DAB page makes it clear that the BC place is not the primary topic for the precise name "Zeballos". —seav (talk) 00:51, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
