198.0.168.121 (talk) 13:39, 31 July 2016 (UTC) Zak Bagans and the crew of Ghost Adventures arrived in Fall River, Massachusetts, to investigate the famed Lizzy Borden House. It was at this investigation that numerous FRPD police officers witnessed Zak and a producer interview several parties to take the role of the "psychic". Zak was then witnessed choosing an actress and handing her over a script. This was previous to the Travel Channel firing Aaron Goodwin for speaking out against the unsavory practices of the producers and Zak. This show is meant for entertainment purposes only and is not realistic or authentic

Mockumentary?

In the "Filmography" section, Bagans 2018 film "Demon House" is listed as a mockumentary. While the claims and events of the film are ridiculous and over the top, and likely rejected by any serious sources, the creators of the documentary present them as entirely serious and claim them to be true. This doesn't seem to quite fall under the definition of mockumentary. While I recognize that there may be hesitance to use documentary due to the spurious claims made, mockumentary seems incorrect for this instance.

Author biased Zac bagans article

The following STATEMENT below in italics is completely false and defamatory. Troy Taylor did NOT receive any "substantial payment" for any "original material" that Zak Bagans had "no permission to use" of his. This can be CLEARLY validated by a public post that Troy Taylor made on his twitter page. Troy Taylor, who was Zak's "uncredited researcher" and ghost writer for the book actually publicly apologized for using the mentioned author names' material in the wikipedia page while stating "I must emphasize that this was NOT in any way Zak's fault, it was completely mine." SEE ATTACHED LINK TO TROY'S TWITTER PAGE POST OF THIS APOLOGY

''But Taylor also says that Bagans did not have permission to use his original material in the book and that he had received "a substantial payment" from Bagans in a settlement.

I removed this per BLP because the sourcing wasn't very strong and it was an accusation of plagiarism. All set. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:39, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
I've opened a section on WP:BLPN to check if the sourcing is adequate for the remaining accusations. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:48, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

Museum Awards

Zak Bagans' The Haunted Museum has won several awards. It is a 3-time winner (2019,2020,2021) of "Best Museum" in Las Vegas from the Las Vegas Review Journals' "Best of Las Vegas" [1] . It won "Best Attraction" in Las Vegas in 2019 from Las Vegas Weekly. [2] It won the Las Vegas Mayor's award for "historic preservation" [3] and USA Today's "#1 Best Haunted Destination in America" [4] Honeyghost66 (talk) 19:12, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

One of the articles sourced to state Bagans and other paranormal shows are frauds cites parody sources as facts and should be removed. The claims it makes can be easily disproven or expounded upon.

The other article used to cite Bagans as a fraud is an opinion piece. It cites no facts and should therefore be removed.

When bother articles are removed, it leaves the statement that Ghost Adventures is fake as unsubstantiated, and therefore the entire statement should be removed as having no source. 198.185.254.2 (talk) 21:16, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Removing criticism

Re [1], you can't just remove reliably sourced and cited criticism because you think it's unfair. - LuckyLouie (talk) 21:42, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Irrelevant criticism of a routine tv show

Hi, LuckyLouie and everyone else interested.

I propose to remove this from "Ghost Adventures| section:

  • “Ghost hunting shows such as “Ghost Adventures”, have been subject to criticism related to the verifiability if the topic. However, the nature of the show was never commented or discussed directly by the Travel Chanel’s official representative
  • My point is that this is irrelevant criticism and it is clear that this is just a show despite of what anyone says to boost it. The official channel never insisted that the show was real or something like this. I believe the criticism here is too serious for a banal show and puts too much weight on the subject. It is more relevant for Ghost hunting page and it can be discussed there. There is no point to tag every show with this irrelevant and self-evident information. Also, one of the sources is just a blog which makes it ineligible for Wikipedia's use.

--Habibiroyal (talk) 21:48, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

The existing section about the TV show is quite relevant to this WP:BLP. It follows that criticism of that show is equally relevant. Cited sources for this criticism include Skeptical Inquirer, azcentral, and TVovermind. I don't see any blogs. An editor's personal opinions such as the criticism here is too serious for a banal show and the official channel never insisted that the show was real, etc. aren't policy-based reasons why criticism should be removed from the article. I certainly don't mean to discourage you. Your other updates to the article were reasonably well-sourced and appropriate. But removing sourced and cited criticism because it doesn't feel right to you isn't a good habit to get into. I hope you'll enjoy editing here and gain more experience and familiarity with Wikipedia's byzantine policies and guidelines as you contribute to many more articles. Best regards, - LuckyLouie (talk) 23:37, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
