Remark[edit]

I have personally confirmed with Yvo that it is okay for me to post the links to the dancing videos. In fact, he wants more such links included. Scott contini (talk) 04:16, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We don't normally cite YouTube sources because of possible copyright infringements. However, I don't see how this is an issue here, and WP:YOUTUBE does not put a blanket ban on YouTube videos. If Yvo Desmedt is known for his dancing I think this may very well be covered. Indication of this is pointed out by the video linked to. If there is disagreement, please discuss. Thanks! At the same time, though... how is that remotely notable or encyclopedic? There's no reason to mention that in the article, and it should be removed. Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:04, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yvo is very well known within and outside of the cryptographic community for his dancing antics. Why can an article like Persi Diaconis (for example) talk about him supporting himself at school by playing poker on ships, while an article on Yvo cannot talk about what he is well known for outside of his profession? I presume there is some style guideline that explains why one is allowed and the other is not, but do not know where it is. I hope you don't mind me asking. Thanks.
