This phrase "The battalion was previously known to be incompetent" makes no sense, as the preceding discussion is about the 31st Infantry (which means regiment). I cannot tell if someone forgot to mention a battalion, or if someone wrote battalion when they meant regiment -- but at it stands now, it looks pretty clearly nonsensical. This article contains a reference that starts "Possibly Young Kim, born in Los Angeles on February 24, 1920." The word "possibly" is a red flag; the citation should be verified before it's added. Further, it seems to me that this cannot logically be the right birthdate. Reliable sources say the man died on December 29, 2005 at age 86. If so, he could not have been born February 24, 1920; if he had been born then, he would have been age 85 at his death. One source or the other must be wrong, and the "possibly" leads me to presume that the birth date citation is most likely in error.
