Reception[edit]

There's been some discussion about this article on an external site concerning the Reception section of this article. While the article may meet the FAC requirements for comprehensiveness, I am concerned because the critical commentary is 100% positive. There are no negative reviews, and part of the "reception" is actually quote from one of The Simpsons writers. This seems a bit dodgy to me: it doesn't seem to belong in a section about public/critical reception. It's one of the writer's opinions. Firsfron of Ronchester 03:57, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you have any negative reviews from a reliable publication, then great. The reason there arn't any is because we can't find any. As for the writer's quote, it was included to show would the staff thought, because they don't actually like every episode (see "The Principal and the Pauper"). If you have some specific suggestions, then that'd be swell. Gran2 10:37, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Denver Broncos[edit]

Comment about Denver Broncos continually removed, mainly by people in the UK who are calling it irrelevant because they dont understand the sporting reference. I feel it deserves some sort of mention. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Simplyirresistiblepalmer (talkcontribs) 16:04, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Funny. I do, very much, understand the "sporting reference". Just because I live in the UK doesn't mean I therefore know nothing about American football. First off, this is nothing but trivia. Secondly, its irelevant because it has nothing to do with the production of this episode. Its not like they won the Superbowl during production, and therefore the joke setting them in a negative light would make little sense. It's something that happened after. It's just a coincidence. Therefore, I don't think it needs to be mentioned. Gran2 16:12, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's a cultural reference that requires some explanation in order to put the joke into context, especially for readers who are unfamiliar with American football. (At the original airing in 1996, when the Broncos were 0-4 in the Super Bowl and the Cowboys had won five rings, it made more sense than it does today in 2009, as the Broncos have won the league title twice since then and the Cowboys have been unable to advance to the conference championship). If the standard argued by Gran2 and Scorpion0422 is the only correct one, what's the point of having a section called "Cultural References" at all? Perhaps the entire section ought to be deleted. LibertyHiller (talk) 03:24, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What you added was unsourced original research that went into way too much detail about a minor joke. Basically, we need to try to keep the cultural references section as brief as possible. It is basically just trivia, and if we explain that it unnecessary detail, why not expand on who Norman Schwarzkopf is, or what songs Shirley Bassey sang, or describe the laser scene from Goldfinger in greater detail? If you do that, the section will get into so much detail that it is given undue weight. -- Scorpion0422 14:44, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keeping extraneous detail (detail creep) out of the plot section[edit]

Please see the following: WP:PLOTSUM, WP:PLOTONLY, WP:FILMPLOT, WP:MOSTV, WP:MOSFICT, and WP:EPISODE for the guidelines on the size and detail of plot summaries. Cheers. L0b0t (talk) 14:52, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Northern Reticulated Chipmunk[edit]

Northern Reticulated Chipmunk redirects here, but the article does not mention it. M00npirate (talk) 21:17, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is because it is referred to in the episode but not notable enough to be mentioned in the article. Martarius (talk) 18:36, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hank Scorpio is based on Phil Knight[edit]

...the CEO of Nike. I'm certain of this. He looks and sounds like Knight and is in a similar line of business. Also, the Globex company seems to be based in the Pacific Northwest, as is Nike (Beaverton, Oregon). 108.254.160.23 (talk) 16:09, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The plot section[edit]

The plot section is 623 words. This violates MOS:TVPLOT. How did a featured article get away with this? AmericanAir88 (talk) 22:29, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Main page appearance[edit]

This is to let people know that this article has been scheduled as today's featured article for December 11, 2019.. It would be good if someone checked that the article needs no amendments. The main page blurb text can be viewed and edited at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/December 11, 2019.—Wehwalt (talk) 21:06, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Scorpion0422 and other interested editors. This is to let you know that as a part of preparing this article for TFA I have asked GOCE to run an eye over it for MoS-compliance and grammar, and possibly tweaking a little of the language to ensure that it is at it's very best for its appearance on the main page. If you have any queries about any of the edits don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:04, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Video references[edit]

There needs to be specific timestamp references for each of the DVD commentaries. 2604:6000:130E:49B0:1062:3CA5:9BB6:1607 (talk) 23:56, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
